Why is techno/trance music not very popular?

I personally like techno music, although I don't have many techno songs. That's cause I don't know the names of many techno songs. My favorite though would be Exploration of Space by Cosmic Gate. I really like how techno and trance music sounds, I don't understand why not many people like it. Why is it not very popular?
